Abstract of project GUSMA
GUSMA is the shortcut of the project “Coupled Simulation of Mobile Machines between different business partners for the
virtualization of the product design” in german. Under the 7th EU Research Framework Program, within the framework concept "Research for the production
of tomorrow", 23rd Notice on 14.April.2007, "Management and Virtual Product Creation", the project outline was submitted by the Federal Ministry for
Education and Research (BMBF) and the Karlsruhe Research Centre.
Project GUSMA will achieve a standard proceeding and a desired Platform, under the Plat-form the proceeding of the coupled simulation can be easy realized.
The mobile machine industry is well-known for the proliferation of variants and the relative low output. In order to satisfy the special requests of the
customers or to develop a new product it needs great much time and many costs. The simulation technique is the tool, which established to support and
optimize the research process. With the help of the simulation technique the mobile machine industry can reduce the R&D time and the costs enormous.
The simulation technique has already shown its success for the industry, but because today’s products are more and more complicated, the simulation
has to cover many departments, such as mechanics, hydraulics, control systems, etc. Correlating to every department there is one or more software,
which is good at modeling in this field. Otherwise there are also some situations, for example the industries want to protect their know-how, and
they had to use some special models with different software. In order to use every software’s advantage and to protect the know-how, the so-called
coupled simulation hits the high street in recent years.
In Project GUSMA the front axle suspension system will exemplify the coupled simulation with the in market established simulation programs. The system
is made up of many part models and runs under one platform, each of them is built in its own program, each of them must protect the know-how of business
and can configure some parameters of its own.
At first the software companies and the application companies will research the current stand in the field of coupled simulation. Based on this the
desired conception will be worked out. According to this conception the interface among the software and the platform will be overhauled. At last
according to the advices of VDMA, how can the coupled simulation work and how can the process be simplified, will be written as standard.
The participating application companies can use the new conception into their product and the R&D and product process will be more effective, therefore
they will be more attractive than other contestants in market. As the standard designer the participating software companies have also advantage over
their competitors. The effect for the universality of their software will go straight without saying.
